The boat
was from 2002 and old, it was a low price charter, but that does not mean to accept bad quality. We received several confirmations, the boat would be in best condition, refurbished 2012, but that cannot be confirmed positive!
There were no big problems, however many smaller ones, so we did not trust the boat.
Manual pumps of WC were leaking or not working at all.Some inside wood coverages were loose and hanging down, leaking hatches, so when wter came over and whilst raing, we had wet beds. The fuel tank indicator was not working.Compasses were not working (blind glass) no lighened compass, loos rubber at the back of the boat, aft-laten was loose.
There ws a big damage from the previous crew, that could not be repaired, however, we did expect a not damaged boat.
For handover, we were 6 hours waiting, whilst the bascrew was standing on the pier and talking. Finally we had to find all items on bard ourselves, then they started to repair the issues we complained about.
I know better working companies, it is possible better! |

very nice, small harbour, where one eve can swim. Very friendly service at the base, all is very clean. We got no proof, if there was a diver checking the hull, we did not see it. And we donīt think so. However, it was a very nice ssailing, indeed. |

we enjoyed the trip, even with the electronical problems. The furling main was damaged, but the charterbase repaired it the same day |

The Raymarine electronic equipment "stalled" before the embarkation, they were reset and were working at check in, the client was informed not to turn them off.
The base manager told me the client was "bravo" in managing the situation - sailing with turned off electric equipment - but client informed him only at the end of the charter.
He also confirm that after the update of the firmware of the software the problems has not showed again (the old firmware has a bug, Raymarine confirms it too).

The booked boat from 2012 was because of a flash strike not available. We were upgraded to a Lagoon Catamaran from 2005, which was appreciated.
The 2005 boat was not in best condition, but still ok. Only the outboard engine was not working, fuel came out of the engine, te replacement engine was not much better.
The Team at the base was very friendly and nice. Good transfer from and to the airpot. We will gladly return, the sailing area is wonderful |

Team was friendly and helpfull.One of our sailors had forgotten his backpack, so the called the driver.
The boats were bad maintained and gave an impression to be older than they are indicated in the papers. Damages on Deck and hull were not repaired. Furling Genoa was not working properly, before we took over the boat they were working on it, but could not solve the problem.
The greywatertank could not be switched and all greywater always was going outside, not very nice in a bay.
The speed indicator did not work, it indicated the speed, but did not note the miles sailed.
Hull was full with green as if it was not maintained for 3 years, the boat was a lame duck because of that.
The boat was not clean, cleasing was very superficial, the toilet and bathroom were still dirty. In one of the lockers was an old garbage from previous crew. |

Hello Hans,
I sent you the replay from our base manager.
I do not like the way this client has make this report, why he do not tell us nothing?
Without going in deep, I can tell you that for sure is lying regarding the antifouling.
You can see the picture of the whole NSS monohull fleet in the shipyard.
Our boat are out of the water from mid - end october till mid end of april, each year! (we are the only charter company that work in this way)
We use since 2006 airless painting for antifouling and we use antifouling self polishing, so when he wrote: "Hull was full with green as if it was not maintained for 3 years, the boat was a lame duck because of that." is not telling the true and that is damaging the image of NSS.
I invite you, to visit our base in Sardinia, next weeks, so you can check directly the conditions of our boats and hull.

JUST A COMMENT IN ADVANCE, THEY DON'T CALL ME ANYTIME DURING THE WEEK FOR PROBLEMS ON THE BOAT.

I HOPE THAT THIS GUEST IS A BOAT BUILDER OR A SHIPYARD MANAGER TO GIVE SUCH A COMMENT ON ALL OUR BOATS, IS SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE IF HE DON'T HAVE COMPETENCE!!!

AGAIN QUESTION OF COMPETENCE AND SPEAKING WITH KNOWLEDGE. THIS GUEST ALSO WHILE WRITING DON'T KNOW WHAT WE WERE DOING ON THE BOAT. REPLACING A LINE ON THE SYSTEM CAN BE CONSIDERED MAINTENANCE EVERYWHERE ALL OVER THE WORLD AND NOT SO MANY COMPANY DO IT DURING THE SEASON.
MAYBE IN THE MIND OF THIS GUEST IT WAS A PROBLEM (OR HE IS ALSO A RIGGER?)

GREYWATER (SINKS, SHOWER PUMPS, BILGE PUMPS) TANK DO NOT EXIST ON OUR BOATS AND I SUPPOSE ON ANY BOAT IN GENERAL. IF HE IS TALKING ABOUT HOLDING TANKS (THESE ONE EXISTS AND ARE CONNECTED TO THE TOILETTES...) THEY CAN BE ACTIVATED SIMPLY CLOSING THE VALVES LIKE IN EVERY BOAT.

SIMPLY TOUCHING THE BUTTON "SPEED" ON THE ST60 TRIDATA YOU CAN CHECK THE TOTAL MILES OR YOU CAN RESET THE COUNTER TO START FROM 0 THE TRIP. IN MY OPINION THIS DON'T MEANS THAT A LOG IS NOT WORKING BUT SIMPLY THAT THE GUEST DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE IT (LIKE THE HOLDING TANKS).

I'M SIMPLY DISGUSTED FOR THIS POOR COMPETENCE AND EXPECIALLY FOR THE TIME I'M LOSING TO REPLY.

The staff in the base was professional in any way, very good organized and helpfull. They took very much care for our satisfaction and the good state of the boat. The bot itself is very seaworthy, completel equipped and fun for sailing ...unfortunately pretty used and old as well. We were impressed from the ambition and enthusiasm of the whole North Sardiniy Sail Crew. They helped us in any situation and any time at the best!
They as well were very gratefull at return of the boat. We will charter from them again! Grazie to especially Francesco!

we had a very intereesting, beautiful, but as welle xhausting trip... 1200 nautical miles in 4 weeks is too much definitely. Learned from that for next time.
Our route was Portisco-Ponza-Ischia-Lipari-Stromboli-Lipari-Cefalu-Palermo-Castellamare
del golfo-Villasimius-Cagliari-Caloforte-Cagliari-Maddalena-Bonofacio-and back to Portisco
As well we learned: donīt sail longer than 2 weeks with the same crew (except with your big love, which will have her stress-test with this as well!)
The charterbase was great, professional and helpfull. That was necessary: because of a broken fuel-hose of the Generator we had fuel in the boat; later we had water in the boat because a broken waterheater. After 2 1/2 weeks the autohelm stopped working, as well as several other elctronic devices. We were forced to demount the autohelm mechanically, luckily after our night-trips! The Pantry is very instabil, old. The sails were pretty old and pre-damaged from heavy use (after 2 weeks we needed to repair the sail.
I did not mention these points in the published statement, because it may create a bad imagination to North Sardinia Sail, which would definitely not represent reality. The problem was the very old and used boat, which is in principle a very good "sailor". Francesco helped us very much in every situation!
He organized technical support in Cagliari asf.
Thatīs why I send this information to you internal.
All was arranged with Francesco at the end very harmonic and fair, without any harm! Trip completed.
Holiday was perfect.
All I say: I will not charter an old boat, even, if it may be more expensive. And I will gladly charter from you (Charterpartner Agency) and the chartercompany North Sardinia Sail again!
One last remark about the security:
the liferaft with 80kg is not useful - one needs at least 2 strong men to carry it out from the storage! Thatīs impossible especially at heavy weather conditions and waves.
The medical package on board should be equipped better.
What finally astonished me was the very bad or not existing infrastructure in the ports of Sardegna and Sicily. No blackwater tank pump stations, no toilets, no showers, and that together with the very high ripoff like prices in Sicily. In Capri we paid 1 night 210 Euros. The northern coats of Sardegna was cheap with 25 Euros.
But the areas are beautiful and interesting
